So I didn't know that we were doing a paper on these essays. I went ahead and did a blog on what I am going to write my blog on (not knowing we were going to have to do that). There are some things I need to clear up though. I am going to do my paper on why I am for the death penalty. None of the essays really persuaded me to be for it, it's just the way I've always been. I am going to use Coretta Scott King's essay to support my point of why I am for the death penalty. I am not saying that I agree with her views, but I am going to incorporate her views and kind of say how i feel about them. I think for the most part that is all that I needed to clear up. In my blog before this one I gave a brief summary of my beliefs, so I think I have it all covered now.
Besides the paper topic, I am ready to watch UNC play tomorrow night. I was going camping with some people either tonight or tomorrow night depending on the weather. I think everyone was leaning towards tomorrow night. I guess I'll just have to skip out or show up late considering UNC plays at 9. I really like their chances at the championship. If they lose, that's one thing. If they lose like they did in the final four last year, I will be very dissappionted.

The Death Penalty
I can't say that I have chosen a side to the fullest, but if I had to pick one, I would be for the death penalty. It just doesn't make since to me as to why we give people who have murdered a place to live and food to eat. Especailly when it is our tax dollars that are paying for it. People say that they should have to sit in a jail for the rest of there life and suffer as opposed to the death penalty. If you want them to suffer so bad then let them sit there until they starve to death. That will give them at least a little time to think about what they have done. I just hate the fact that we pay for people to stay alive because the death penalty is no longer used.
If I am not mistaken, our country is/was based around the Christain religion. That is what is wrong with this nation. We have slowly fallen off of our beliefs over these years. We have altered them to make sure eveyone gets what they want. For example, in the bible it obviously is against being gay. These days we are starting to make it legal for gays to get married. Also in the bible it says "an eye for an eye." Personally, I believe it should be the same concept when it comes to the death penalty. If you are going to kill someone, then you should be killed. Prisons are becoming more populated each day anyways. I think that people just need to wake up and smell the roses.
Just because the government has the right to kill doesn't mean that we have the right. When the government does it, it is done for justice. People that do it in society just take matters into their own hands and don't think before they take action.

DUB-TOWN
This week has been pretty cool. No more freshman seminar.....wahhoo! Also got one test out of the way and figured out that a big project in spanish is optional. My one o'clock class was cancelled today. I have a couple of friends that are coming down for the weekend. Not sure what the hell we are going to do, but we'll find a way to make our time interesting. It would be better if I didn't have a test monday but oh well. Of course we are watching Carolina win tonight! Even though my bracket is screwed up already, I still enjoy watching the games. I don't think they will have much trouble with Gonzaga. Ty Lawson should be pretty healthy by now. Besides the b-ball games, I'm going to look at some houses for next year. Me, my brother, and my buddy that's down here this weekend are going to live together next year. Well I don't have much more to talk about so I'm going to get started on what should be a great weekend.
Question of the Day:
Now that the tournament has been played out a little bit, who will win the whole tournament?
ME : UNC OF COURSE

Why we shouldn't have a football team
I've heard a rumor since I've been here and even before I started attending UNCW. This rumor is the reason UNCW doen't have a football team is because a large contributor to the program wouldn't really like for the university to get one. In simpler terms, someone that is donating lots of money to the university wouldn't apprciate it very much if we started a football program. If this is true, then I'd say it would be of our best interest to keep this school without a football team. More times than none if we were to get a football team, I'd say that the large contributor to the university would be very upset and stop donating money to the university. Why would we want to bring this something like this upon ourselves.
Another reason we shouldn't get a football team is because of our location. What I hear from people when they talk about UNCW, is how nice it is. Most people come to attend Wilmington because it is located at the beach. Not so much because we have a good atheletics program or anything. With this said, if we were to get a football team, I'm not sure how good they would be. We would probably have trouble with recruiting.
My last reason we shouldn't get a football team is because of what it might bring. I'm not trying to be stereo typical but in today's world, it seems more and more football players are thugs. Marcus Vick and Plaxico Burress are prime examples of this. I mean look at Miami's football program for the past 5 years and all the events that have happened dealing with football players. I'm not saying that it happens often but why even take the risk.

once again.....BORRREEEDDD
I feel like I had so much homework today but I know it wasn't that much. I still need to work on my paper. After having my conference this morning I discovered that I need to do a lot of work on my paper. It didn't suprise me though; I was kind of expecting that considering I typed up my paper while watching the acc tournament last week. So not only did my team lose, but watching my team lose caused me to write a pretty shitty paper. What an excellent way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
I really don't have anything important to say just a bunch of random thoughts. So if you are expecting to hear something cool you can stop reading. Other wise you can continue and see how boring my life it (at least right now). I was just sitting around bored so I figured why not blog. I volunteered myselft to go pick someone up tonight from down town. I really don't want to do it now but oh well. It's not like I'm doing anything better. I have a question for everyone and if you have a legit answer please leave me a comment answering. Why are we required to have a foreign language? I absolutely hate spanish. I tried to do my homework tonight and it was just a good reminder of why I don't like it. I have a good teacher and everything but it's still just so hard to understand. Sorry but I'm never going to use this shit. Even if I do speak spanish in the future, it'll just be in a joking manner. It's not like I'm choosing a career path that requires me to have a foreign language.
I'm still not over the fact that I have fresman seminar while UNC plays tomorrow. I have to present a project with my group. We are the last ones to go for the day (near the starting time for the game), so I think we just might have to wrap up the presentation early. I guess I'll start working on my paper now. It would probably be best anyways.

BOORREEDDD
So I guess I'll start by saying that spring break was way too short. It was everything I expected(which was a bunch of nothing), considering I didn't have any type of vacation planned. It was nice to see all of my friends back at home though. I wasn't very happy with the way the acc tournament played out though. Of course being a Carolina fan, I despise that Duke won. I knew Carolina wouldn't be that good with out their starting point gaurd, Ty Lawson. Then again it didn't help at all that Danny Green played his worst games during the tournament. Also, we'll give Duke the acc tournament, I want to win the big one. I'll be highly disappointed if Carolina doesn't win. I'll be even more disappointed if they get knocked out like they did last year with a horrible performance against Kansas. I'm am stoked that "march madness" is finally beginning. It sucks that we have to go to class instead of being able to watch the game. I say they just cancel classes so everyone can enjoy a little basketball. Of course the Carolina game is going to start on Thursday when I'm in my least favorite class. I might just have to skip hah. I filled out my brackett and some how have Duke in the final four against Carolina. If that were to happen, well, that would be freaking awesome.
With all of that said I must ask.......Who do you think will win it all this year?? Hopefully more people will respond to this than the last final four question I asked! My take.....HEELS BABY!

PLANS PLANS PLANS
So I had to go watch a movie in lumina tonight for spanish class. The name of it was "Walk Out." I have to admit that it really wasn't my cup of tea but I guess at least I didn't have to pay for it. Now all I have to do is write a few sentences about it in spanish....blahh. On another note I'm going back to the con-city(Concord) tomorrow. I look forward to seeing my buddies. Hopefully if it's not raining we can go play a little golf this weekend. As far as the next paper goes, I think it'll be easier to write than the last one. It was just hard to write a descriptive paper to me. Or maybe it was the place that I chose that made it so hard to write......I don't know.
Besides all this school nonsense, it's about time for a little march madness baby. It's been crazy the past few weeks in college basketball with some of the top teams losing. Hopefully Carolina can make a run at the championship this year. I just hope they don't go out again like they did last year. I was very dissappointed.
Lets take a pole shall we....
What 4 teams will make it to the final 4 this year??
I say Carolina, UConn, Memphis, and yes if they make it in the brackett, Maryland. It all depends on how the bracketts are drawn up though.....I guess we will see.

television or magazine ad
For my next paper I decided to pick tv vs. a magazine ad. Both have to do with new movie previews. I think choosing this will make it easier for me to write. When talking about movie previews, there is no doubt about which one is more affective and why. I know through both of these you can get the main points of the movie such as the name of it, who plays in it, and the release date. As we all know, these are the main points of the movie but they aren't the determining factors of whether we are going to take time to see the movie. We want to see the good stuff. The things that catch our attention.
Obviously we can't see the good stuff through a picture in a magazine or on the internet. Sure there is that one picture which might be semi-exciting but it's nothing compared to the movie preview that you get to watch on tv. When you watch the one on tv, usually it catches your attention and you can make a more in depth evalutation of the movie and whether it is going to be good or not. Well if this is an acceptable topic for my paper, I don't want to go on and on about it in this blog. I'll save it for my paper.

television
So we have to do a blog while watching television. I just got done eating my wag. supper which wasn't to good. I tried to put pineapple in the same box as my sandwich and all the juice from the pineapple soaked into my bread. Currently it is about 7:45 pm and I am watching the Duke vs. St. John's basketball game. Hopefully Duke can keep there losing streak rolling on tonight. That would make my night. As of right now it looks like it could go either way, but Duke has a little bit of an edge with a 10 point lead. I guess I will just copy Bretts style of "television" blogging and just update it from time to time.
7:50
Bob Knight should have stuck to coaching(or maybe not). He doesn't make for a very good commentator. He just doesn't make it exciting like Dicky V. does, even though I hate his voice. I must admit that Duke has some of the goofiest looking players in college basketball. Kyle singler looks like he's related to E.T. and Scheyer looks like he is 12. Can't forget about Paulus who looks like a mouse. He kind of looks like his coach. Other than how the Duke players look it is half time and Duke is on top 37-26.
8:05
Charlotte is up on Xavier at halftime??? Speaking of Dicky V., he's on a hooters commercial now.
8:15
I hate the East Coast Credit Union commercial. Start of the 2nd half.....lets go St. John's
8:25
Maybe if John Scheyer would lift some weights he wouldn't fall down every time he gets touched. I haven't seen Duke's big man(Zoubek) in tonight.....maybe he's injured. Oh well he sucks anyways. St. John's is starting to lose it 50-34.
8:35
Not sure if the new movie "Knowing" with Nicholas Cage looks good or not. A commercial for Street Fighter 4?? I remember playing that game on Sega Genesis. Uuuhhhh why do they take another commercial break when they just had one?? A commercial for nextel......maybe the should work on their shitty service before they do advertising. Yes I have a nextel and I hate it.
8:45
St. John's is playing pretty good defense........NOTT. How dare Knight put Singler in the same category as Hansbrough. I just don't see them being comparable. Zoubek is in now and made a good foul....for an and one. 7:43 left in the game and Duke is up by 12......damnit.
8:55
Charlotte is up by 3 with about 3 minutes left! Well I think Duke has this game put away but I'm going to watch the rest of it anyways. I just watched the 20th missed lay-up tonight. 21st missed lay-up
9:00
So St. John's has had their chances tonight but didn't take advantage of them. So now for the last 1:30 they go to the default stategy that hardly ever works......fouling. Maybe I spoke too soon because they just got a steal and a basket so now they are down by 8.
9:05
15 seconds left Duke is up by 7 and foul shots are coming for St. John's. 74-69!!
Well duke won 76-69. It was a rather boring game but St. Johns made a little run at the end. Now Indiana and Wisconsin are playing so I'm probably going to do my spanish homework now.

"Live like you were dying"
I'd have to say that one of my favorite songs would have to be Tim McGraw's "Live like you were dying." Every time I listen to it, I get chills down my back. To me it is a lot more than just a song. It has a very good story to it and shows a real life experience. Often times I hear the phrase "live like you are dying," but after I heard this song it put a new meaning to this phrase. I never thought about it that hard until I heard this song for the first time. It tells about his father who was diagnosed with cancer and did all of these things that he never thought about doing before. I guess one could say that he lived like he was dying!
The meaning of this song is pretty clear cut and dry. He retales the story of his dad's last few months that he was alive. After he found out that he had cancer, it acted as an eye opener to him and he goes on to tell about all the things he did that he would have never imagined doing before this point in his life. He tells how he went sky diving, rocky mountain climbing, and even road a bull. He sarted to do things that are very daring and could also be considered dangerous but what did he have to lose? "He said I was finally the husband most the time I wasn't, and I became a friend a friend would like to have." This illustrates how he changed his way of living and how he became a better person.
If you haven't ever heard this song I would strongly recommend you to listen to it. Sit down, listen, and analyze what he says in this song. We are all going to die one day. Maybe we should all loosen up a bit and learn to live life to the fullest. Start enjoying life a little more and be thankful for what we have. Start living like we are dying!

Livin the Good Life
So far I must say that college has been what I expected it to be. Right now all of my classes are fair but I am expecting to get harder as I further my college education. I often times find myself with a lot of free time on my hands and I realize that I have all of this free time for a reason: to get all my work and studying done.
Besides the school aspect of college, it's pretty cool being away from home for the first time. I like to kind of sit back and watch people and how they react to this. A lot of people get one taste of the freedom and milk it for all it's worth by going out every week night and drinking every night. I just think that you have to cut it off at some point. I like to have a good time myself but at the same time I like to get the important shit done first. I'm more worried about my career and where it's going from here as opposed to drinking every night. It's not like it's something new anyways. I'm sure a good percentage of people drank in high school.
Overall my college career is going good and I have enjoyed it for the most part. Nothing is too hard yet but im sure it's going to get there soon.

HEEL YES
For the fourth straight year in a row UNC has beaten Duke at Cameron Indoor. This game took place last night at nine o'clock. As far as I'm concerned, Duke and Carolina is and will remain the greatest rivalry game in college basketball. Last night was a good game up to the last minutes. I thought for the most part both teams played well but Carolina played better when it counted and managed to pull away from Duke in the last minutes of the ball game.
Ty Lawson led the heels last night with 25 points. Hansbrough had 17 and Wayne Ellington and Danny Green both added 15 of their own. With this win the seniors on this team will be classified in a category with very few. They are some of the only ones to beat Duke at their place all four years while Coach K was the coach. The last player to do so was Tim Duncan at Wake Forrest in 1997.
I think when you talk about Duke and Carolina, you are talking about the best two teams in the acc. I'm not sure how Wake got so side tracked on their season but they are slowly falling off. It will be very interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out from here.

www.conservation.org
What does nature mean to you? Is it important or do you really not give a shit. We'll regardless of how you feel about it, nature produces and contains alot of key things that we need for life. Through the website that I explored, they are trying to get people to realize the problems nature is suffering from. They are a conservation group and are trying to save nature. If you look at the site it gives you a chance to explore and discover the problems and it explains what effect these problems have on nature.
The goals of this group is to get people to realize why nature is important to us and to reveal the issues that are occuring. They want people to join with them and take part in trying to resolve the problems. "We believe that the Earth's natural heritage must be maintained if future generations are to thrive spiritually, culturally and economically." They are trying to get people to look into the future and realize what is going to happen if we don't take action now.
I think the group has approached the problem in a great way. The website they created isn't just "hey we have a problem and need to do something about it, thanks." It is a lot more than that and I think they way that they set it up gives people a better understanding of what is happening and how/why we need to take action. I feel that it is very effectively communicated and think that if people actually explore their site that they might change their views on nature and how important it is to life.

As most of you already know, Michael Phelps was captured in a picture at a party at the University of South Carolina. It wasn't a typical picture of him with 8 gold medals around his neck. It just so happened to be a picture of Phelps smoking a little marijuana. For the past days it has been all over the news and sports programs. In a way I feel like it is done and over with and the state of South Carolina just needs to leave it alone. Most recently I have heard that they are trying to press charges on him. I just don't see the need in doing all this. There are pictures all over the internet(myspace, facebook, etc.) of people smoking weed and getting high and for the most part a good percentage of these people haven't been hit with any charges. Sure some people might see it as a bad decision on his part but they need to quit blowing it up. Just because the man has won so many gold medals doesn't mean he isn't human like the rest of us. He isn't some super hero. I'm sure he parties like the majority of us humans(drinks, smokes, has sex haha). I'm just saying that maybe all these people should give the man a break.
On another note I feel like he might have brought this all on himself. I'm not saying that just because you are making millions doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to have a little fun like the rest of us(not all see this instance as "having fun" but I do). Sure have a little fun Mr. Phelps but you can't go to a college party and not expect "that girl"(the one that goes around taking pictures like she just discovered what a camera is) not to be there. At a party, chances are pretty good that you are going to get caught in a picture one way or another, especially if you are famous.
With all of this said I would like to quote my father: "Son, I'm not saying that partying is bad, but there is a time and place for it. I was your age once......and......well.......you're only young, dumb, and full of cum once."
P.S. I would just like to appologize to anyone who I might have offended by some of these remarks. Personally, I think it's great. :]

YO......oh WORD
Well it's kind of funny that we were asked to write a blog about the words that we use more often than others in our daily vocabulary. One of the words that I thought of.....well it's probably not even considered a word in the English dictionary. This so called "word" would be "yo". It is funny but true. Through out the day I find myself using it a lot and when I do say it, it doesn't really make much sense. For instance if someone were to ask me something and I wasn't paying attention to them(there for I didn't hear what they said) I sometimes respond with "yo" expecting them to repeat themselves. In another case I answer my phone and automatically go "yo" regardless of who's calling. I'm sure my dad thinks I'm an idiot every time that he calls me and I answer with that. Quite funny that as I'm typing this one of my buddies beeped me on my nextel and said "YO."
Another word that I use a lot in my daily vocabulary is "word." The way I use this, in context, doesn't really make much sense either. If one of my friends tells me about an interesting story, more than likely I finish it up with a "WORD" as in that story was freaking sweet. I guess you could say that using words like these reflect upon my personality and how I tend to be funny and not very serious. I seem to use these words more as an expression of my feelings rather than basic speech.

Movie Review and Stuff
This past week I bought the new release "Pride and Glory." It is a movie starring Ed Norton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, and Noah Emmerich. I had saw the movie one time before when it was in theaters. Personally I thought it was an astonishing movie. I thought the acting and the story line in this movie was great. It is about cops in New York City. They aren't just your ordinary cops though they are corrupt. Ed Norton, Colin Farrell and Noah Emmerich are all apart of the police department that is corrupt. The movie is based on one crime or "police file." Over all I thought that it was an excellent movie. Colin Farrell is such a hard ass in this movie and as alway Ed Nortons' acting was spectacular. It was interesting how not only were all of them working at the same police station, but they were all related. Even though it is fiction it makes for a quite interesting story. I would deffinately recommend this movie to anyone who has not seen it yet.
On another note the superbowl is tonight. I'm not really excited about it like I usually am. I don't like either of the teams playing tonight and hope they both lose. I really am just anxious to see all the new commercials!!

Rainy Mountain (question #1)
As we all should already know that any introduction in any writing should reveal the topic and introduce it to the reader. When reading the first paragraph of "The Way to Rainy Mountain," he makes it very clear as to what the reading is about. Regardless of what else he might specifically talk about in his writing, it all points back and relates to Rainy Mountain.
The introduction was very good and gave a great description of Rainy Mountain. When reading it I almost felt as if I was in a car riding through rainy mountain noticing every little detail about the place as the seasons changed right before me. It was a very descriptive introduction. I thought a great example of this descriptive writing was "there is no confusion of objects in the eye, but one hill or one tree or one man." Through out the whole first paragraph there was an image of Rainy Mountain in my head. He used a method of describing to introduce the reader to Rainy Mountain and personally think he did a great job of it.

Over Populated Over Historical Sites
If I would have moved away from my hometown(Concord, NC) when I was young and went back there today I probably wouldn't even recognize the place. I'd say over the past 10-15 years there have been a countless amount of houses and neighborhoods that have been built in the city of Concord. Where I'm from I don't think that people see any importance in historical sites. They'd rather build some neighborhood with cheap houses and let the trash of North Carolina move in. I don't me to be so blunt and rude about it but I have been through these neighborhoods and seen the type of people that live there. I'm not saying they are all like this but for the most part. People are too money hungry today and have such tunnel vision that they don't give two shits about any sites that might historical.
I'm not saying at all that Concord is the father of historical sites but it still has some historical sites. One good one is Stonewall Jackson Training School(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_Jackson_Training_School .....somone is going to have to show me how to do that shit again lol). The training school is still there today but I'm afraid if these builders keep going at the rate they are and the government keeps allowing it that it will be gone too. I know that I am just speaking about my home town but from what I've seen there it leads me to believe that it is similar across the nation. There is no doubt in my mind that the American system of values plays a part in all of this. I am not saying that they encourage it but I believe that they really don't care.
If you can't gather it yet, the big point I'm trying to make is that(at least where im from) people don't care about historical sites. They are just worried about making their next dollar and building these rinky dink neighborhoods. Slowly Concord is becoming more and more over populated and it sucks. As we become more and more populated they just keep taking up more and more land which some of them are historical sites.

Obama's Inaguration Speech
So if today wasn't cool enough with the snow I thought watching the Obama's speech just made my day that much cooler. I've never really been interested in politics too much. I mean of course I care who is going to run the country and things like that but before the previous election I never really took time out of my day to watch any speeches or any shows dealing with politics. I think that Obama being half African American makes it alot more interesting. It's like I said earlier today that watching this was basically watching a very important part of America's history. Generations after us will be studying this in their history classes. It is comparable to Martin Luther King Jr. and how we studied him in history. I just think it is something neat and interesting to watch(as some people my age probably don't).
As far as the evaluation of his speech, I think it was well said. Obama is an excellent speaker and I thoroughly enjoy listening/watching any speeches given by him. Not only does he speak well but I also agree with most of his political views and what he plans to change about America. A lot of people say "well he has too much stuff on his list of things to do and are waiting to see what he will be able to accomplish." As he stated today this is going to be a long process. We aren't going to wake up one morning and the economy be back to normal all of a sudden. This is a new era and we are just making a start on a new beginning.
I like Obama as my president and I am anxious to see the new and brighter future that he is going to get us started on. I am still kind of bothered by some people and how they view Obama as our president. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for all African Americans and this event which hopefully makes the nonbelievers believe that all humans are created equal no matter what race, gender, or religion they might be. I just feel that some African Americans are making it a race thing. After the speech I happened to check my facebook and noticed that one person had as their status "MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK." To me it is not about what color the president is, it's just a matter of whether he is going to be a great leader or not.
With all that said, I am looking forward to the future with Barrack Obama as my president and leader of this great country that I live in.

My Grandmother Would Make a Better QB Than Jake Delhomme
So I will just go ahead and inform everyone if they didn't already know that Jake Delhomme might possibly be one of the worst QB's in the NFL. Sometimes he plays halfway good but more than likely Steve Smith just makes him look better than what he really is with his spectacular catches(and yes Steve Smith is the nastiest reciever in the NFL). Think about it though; every offense on any good team revolves around the quarterback. I look at the panthers and usually think if they had Brett Favre at QB they'd be one hell of a team.
The Panthers came into the playoffs being ranked the 2nd best team in the NFC behind the giants. Everyone was expecting a lot out of them in the playoffs with the dynamic duo in the backfield and also Steve Smith and Musin Muhammad at recievers. Nooooo Jake Delhomme blows everything that they have going for them. I know that everyone has their good days and bad days, but when you throw 5 interceptions and fumble once in the first round of the playoffs, a bad day might be an understatement. I think the Panthers just need to go ahead and let go of Delhomme and draft a new quarterback.

"it's time for a damn change, so yall let the man shine"
For me it was hard to find two blogs that actually interest me. This is my first time really dealing with blogs(reading them or creating them). So when we had to look up two, I wanted to find one that dealt with President-Elect Barrack Obama. This blog was one created after he won the election in 2008. For the most part it was informative stating all the satistics of the votes and whatever else. All of the comments were just a bunch of personal rant.
It tickles me to look at some of the comments that people left on this. Some of the people that are republicans left comments on here that were hilarious to me. They feel since Indiana and North Carolina went blue this year that they had been betrayed. As I read most of these comments I started to think about our country and how we are the "United" States of America. People have such a hard time accepting the fact that a man who is half-black was elected president. I am not saying that I voted for him but being a part of the UNITED States of America I am willing to accpet the fact that he is my president! Last time I checked we are not the divided states of America. People just need to wake up and realize that just because you don't like who was elected, doesn't mean he isn't your president. For all of you smartasses that say "he isn't my president," then pack up and move to another country. We have to take the hand that we are delt and make the best of what we have. Like Young Jeezy said in a recent song, "It's time for a damn change so yall let the man shine."
