PLANS PLANS PLANS

So I had to go watch a movie in lumina tonight for spanish class. The name of it was "Walk Out." I have to admit that it really wasn't my cup of tea but I guess at least I didn't have to pay for it. Now all I have to do is write a few sentences about it in spanish....blahh. On another note I'm going back to the con-city(Concord) tomorrow. I look forward to seeing my buddies. Hopefully if it's not raining we can go play a little golf this weekend. As far as the next paper goes, I think it'll be easier to write than the last one. It was just hard to write a descriptive paper to me. Or maybe it was the place that I chose that made it so hard to write......I don't know.

Besides all this school nonsense, it's about time for a little march madness baby. It's been crazy the past few weeks in college basketball with some of the top teams losing. Hopefully Carolina can make a run at the championship this year. I just hope they don't go out again like they did last year. I was very dissappointed.

Lets take a pole shall we....

What 4 teams will make it to the final 4 this year??

I say Carolina, UConn, Memphis, and yes if they make it in the brackett, Maryland. It all depends on how the bracketts are drawn up though.....I guess we will see.

television or magazine ad

For my next paper I decided to pick tv vs. a magazine ad. Both have to do with new movie previews. I think choosing this will make it easier for me to write. When talking about movie previews, there is no doubt about which one is more affective and why. I know through both of these you can get the main points of the movie such as the name of it, who plays in it, and the release date. As we all know, these are the main points of the movie but they aren't the determining factors of whether we are going to take time to see the movie. We want to see the good stuff. The things that catch our attention.

Obviously we can't see the good stuff through a picture in a magazine or on the internet. Sure there is that one picture which might be semi-exciting but it's nothing compared to the movie preview that you get to watch on tv. When you watch the one on tv, usually it catches your attention and you can make a more in depth evalutation of the movie and whether it is going to be good or not. Well if this is an acceptable topic for my paper, I don't want to go on and on about it in this blog. I'll save it for my paper.

television

So we have to do a blog while watching television. I just got done eating my wag. supper which wasn't to good. I tried to put pineapple in the same box as my sandwich and all the juice from the pineapple soaked into my bread. Currently it is about 7:45 pm and I am watching the Duke vs. St. John's basketball game. Hopefully Duke can keep there losing streak rolling on tonight. That would make my night. As of right now it looks like it could go either way, but Duke has a little bit of an edge with a 10 point lead. I guess I will just copy Bretts style of "television" blogging and just update it from time to time.

7:50

Bob Knight should have stuck to coaching(or maybe not). He doesn't make for a very good commentator. He just doesn't make it exciting like Dicky V. does, even though I hate his voice. I must admit that Duke has some of the goofiest looking players in college basketball. Kyle singler looks like he's related to E.T. and Scheyer looks like he is 12. Can't forget about Paulus who looks like a mouse. He kind of looks like his coach. Other than how the Duke players look it is half time and Duke is on top 37-26.

8:05

Charlotte is up on Xavier at halftime??? Speaking of Dicky V., he's on a hooters commercial now.

8:15

I hate the East Coast Credit Union commercial. Start of the 2nd half.....lets go St. John's

8:25

Maybe if John Scheyer would lift some weights he wouldn't fall down every time he gets touched. I haven't seen Duke's big man(Zoubek) in tonight.....maybe he's injured. Oh well he sucks anyways. St. John's is starting to lose it 50-34.

8:35

Not sure if the new movie "Knowing" with Nicholas Cage looks good or not. A commercial for Street Fighter 4?? I remember playing that game on Sega Genesis. Uuuhhhh why do they take another commercial break when they just had one?? A commercial for nextel......maybe the should work on their shitty service before they do advertising. Yes I have a nextel and I hate it.

8:45

St. John's is playing pretty good defense........NOTT. How dare Knight put Singler in the same category as Hansbrough. I just don't see them being comparable. Zoubek is in now and made a good foul....for an and one. 7:43 left in the game and Duke is up by 12......damnit.

8:55

Charlotte is up by 3 with about 3 minutes left! Well I think Duke has this game put away but I'm going to watch the rest of it anyways. I just watched the 20th missed lay-up tonight. 21st missed lay-up

9:00

So St. John's has had their chances tonight but didn't take advantage of them. So now for the last 1:30 they go to the default stategy that hardly ever works......fouling. Maybe I spoke too soon because they just got a steal and a basket so now they are down by 8.

9:05

15 seconds left Duke is up by 7 and foul shots are coming for St. John's. 74-69!!

Well duke won 76-69. It was a rather boring game but St. Johns made a little run at the end. Now Indiana and Wisconsin are playing so I'm probably going to do my spanish homework now.

"Live like you were dying"

I'd have to say that one of my favorite songs would have to be Tim McGraw's "Live like you were dying." Every time I listen to it, I get chills down my back. To me it is a lot more than just a song. It has a very good story to it and shows a real life experience. Often times I hear the phrase "live like you are dying," but after I heard this song it put a new meaning to this phrase. I never thought about it that hard until I heard this song for the first time. It tells about his father who was diagnosed with cancer and did all of these things that he never thought about doing before. I guess one could say that he lived like he was dying!

The meaning of this song is pretty clear cut and dry. He retales the story of his dad's last few months that he was alive. After he found out that he had cancer, it acted as an eye opener to him and he goes on to tell about all the things he did that he would have never imagined doing before this point in his life. He tells how he went sky diving, rocky mountain climbing, and even road a bull. He sarted to do things that are very daring and could also be considered dangerous but what did he have to lose? "He said I was finally the husband most the time I wasn't, and I became a friend a friend would like to have." This illustrates how he changed his way of living and how he became a better person.

If you haven't ever heard this song I would strongly recommend you to listen to it. Sit down, listen, and analyze what he says in this song. We are all going to die one day. Maybe we should all loosen up a bit and learn to live life to the fullest. Start enjoying life a little more and be thankful for what we have. Start living like we are dying!

Livin the Good Life

So far I must say that college has been what I expected it to be. Right now all of my classes are fair but I am expecting to get harder as I further my college education. I often times find myself with a lot of free time on my hands and I realize that I have all of this free time for a reason: to get all my work and studying done.

Besides the school aspect of college, it's pretty cool being away from home for the first time. I like to kind of sit back and watch people and how they react to this. A lot of people get one taste of the freedom and milk it for all it's worth by going out every week night and drinking every night. I just think that you have to cut it off at some point. I like to have a good time myself but at the same time I like to get the important shit done first. I'm more worried about my career and where it's going from here as opposed to drinking every night. It's not like it's something new anyways. I'm sure a good percentage of people drank in high school.

Overall my college career is going good and I have enjoyed it for the most part. Nothing is too hard yet but im sure it's going to get there soon.

HEEL YES

For the fourth straight year in a row UNC has beaten Duke at Cameron Indoor. This game took place last night at nine o'clock. As far as I'm concerned, Duke and Carolina is and will remain the greatest rivalry game in college basketball. Last night was a good game up to the last minutes. I thought for the most part both teams played well but Carolina played better when it counted and managed to pull away from Duke in the last minutes of the ball game.

Ty Lawson led the heels last night with 25 points. Hansbrough had 17 and Wayne Ellington and Danny Green both added 15 of their own. With this win the seniors on this team will be classified in a category with very few. They are some of the only ones to beat Duke at their place all four years while Coach K was the coach. The last player to do so was Tim Duncan at Wake Forrest in 1997.

I think when you talk about Duke and Carolina, you are talking about the best two teams in the acc. I'm not sure how Wake got so side tracked on their season but they are slowly falling off. It will be very interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out from here.

www.conservation.org

What does nature mean to you? Is it important or do you really not give a shit. We'll regardless of how you feel about it, nature produces and contains alot of key things that we need for life. Through the website that I explored, they are trying to get people to realize the problems nature is suffering from. They are a conservation group and are trying to save nature. If you look at the site it gives you a chance to explore and discover the problems and it explains what effect these problems have on nature.

The goals of this group is to get people to realize why nature is important to us and to reveal the issues that are occuring. They want people to join with them and take part in trying to resolve the problems. "We believe that the Earth's natural heritage must be maintained if future generations are to thrive spiritually, culturally and economically." They are trying to get people to look into the future and realize what is going to happen if we don't take action now.

I think the group has approached the problem in a great way. The website they created isn't just "hey we have a problem and need to do something about it, thanks." It is a lot more than that and I think they way that they set it up gives people a better understanding of what is happening and how/why we need to take action. I feel that it is very effectively communicated and think that if people actually explore their site that they might change their views on nature and how important it is to life.

Partying with Cocks

As most of you already know, Michael Phelps was captured in a picture at a party at the University of South Carolina. It wasn't a typical picture of him with 8 gold medals around his neck. It just so happened to be a picture of Phelps smoking a little marijuana. For the past days it has been all over the news and sports programs. In a way I feel like it is done and over with and the state of South Carolina just needs to leave it alone. Most recently I have heard that they are trying to press charges on him. I just don't see the need in doing all this. There are pictures all over the internet(myspace, facebook, etc.) of people smoking weed and getting high and for the most part a good percentage of these people haven't been hit with any charges. Sure some people might see it as a bad decision on his part but they need to quit blowing it up. Just because the man has won so many gold medals doesn't mean he isn't human like the rest of us. He isn't some super hero. I'm sure he parties like the majority of us humans(drinks, smokes, has sex haha). I'm just saying that maybe all these people should give the man a break.

On another note I feel like he might have brought this all on himself. I'm not saying that just because you are making millions doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to have a little fun like the rest of us(not all see this instance as "having fun" but I do). Sure have a little fun Mr. Phelps but you can't go to a college party and not expect "that girl"(the one that goes around taking pictures like she just discovered what a camera is) not to be there. At a party, chances are pretty good that you are going to get caught in a picture one way or another, especially if you are famous.

With all of this said I would like to quote my father: "Son, I'm not saying that partying is bad, but there is a time and place for it. I was your age once......and......well.......you're only young, dumb, and full of cum once."

P.S. I would just like to appologize to anyone who I might have offended by some of these remarks. Personally, I think it's great. :]

YO......oh WORD

Well it's kind of funny that we were asked to write a blog about the words that we use more often than others in our daily vocabulary. One of the words that I thought of.....well it's probably not even considered a word in the English dictionary. This so called "word" would be "yo". It is funny but true. Through out the day I find myself using it a lot and when I do say it, it doesn't really make much sense. For instance if someone were to ask me something and I wasn't paying attention to them(there for I didn't hear what they said) I sometimes respond with "yo" expecting them to repeat themselves. In another case I answer my phone and automatically go "yo" regardless of who's calling. I'm sure my dad thinks I'm an idiot every time that he calls me and I answer with that. Quite funny that as I'm typing this one of my buddies beeped me on my nextel and said "YO."

Another word that I use a lot in my daily vocabulary is "word." The way I use this, in context, doesn't really make much sense either. If one of my friends tells me about an interesting story, more than likely I finish it up with a "WORD" as in that story was freaking sweet. I guess you could say that using words like these reflect upon my personality and how I tend to be funny and not very serious. I seem to use these words more as an expression of my feelings rather than basic speech.

Movie Review and Stuff

This past week I bought the new release "Pride and Glory." It is a movie starring Ed Norton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, and Noah Emmerich. I had saw the movie one time before when it was in theaters. Personally I thought it was an astonishing movie. I thought the acting and the story line in this movie was great. It is about cops in New York City. They aren't just your ordinary cops though they are corrupt. Ed Norton, Colin Farrell and Noah Emmerich are all apart of the police department that is corrupt. The movie is based on one crime or "police file." Over all I thought that it was an excellent movie. Colin Farrell is such a hard ass in this movie and as alway Ed Nortons' acting was spectacular. It was interesting how not only were all of them working at the same police station, but they were all related. Even though it is fiction it makes for a quite interesting story. I would deffinately recommend this movie to anyone who has not seen it yet.

On another note the superbowl is tonight. I'm not really excited about it like I usually am. I don't like either of the teams playing tonight and hope they both lose. I really am just anxious to see all the new commercials!!
